The good news is ‘there is nothing like upgrading of UTME results’.

US Troops Now In Chad In Search Of Missing Girls

The United States has deployed 80 military personnel to Chad to help find more than 276 schoolgirls kidnapped inside the Government Girls Secondary School in Chibok, Borno State on 14 April, 2014.
Skynews reports that President barack Obama confirmed the deployment in a letter he sent to House Speaker John Boehner and to Senate lawmakers.

It was reported that Mr Obama said the personnel would help with intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance aircraft for missions over northern Nigeria, which shares a border with Chad.
It was gathered that the team who are due to arrive on Wednesday may already be there, according to Pentagon spokesman Myles Caggins.
According to Caggins, the 80 U.S. military personnel will help expand drone searches of the region. About 40 of the troops make up the launch and recovering teams for the drone being deployed there and the other 40 make up the security force for the team. Caggins said this latest deployment will not involve ground searches by the troops.

A senior U.S. official said the drone is a Predator, and will be in addition to the unarmed Global Hawks already being used. The new flights will be based out of Chad and allow the military to expand its search to that country. Initially the flights were largely over Nigeria.
The official was not authorized to discuss the matter publicly so spoke on condition of anonymity. The Predator also replaced the manned Liberty aircraft that was being used for search flights, but was pulled out for maintenance.
The government of Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan came under intense criticism for an initial slow response to the kidnappings. Since then, the international community has pledged its assistance.
Details of this are still being expected.

Jonathan Has been Granted Plea For Emergency Extesion

The House of Representatives has approved the request by President Goodluck Jonathan for an extension of emergency rule in the three north eastern states of Borno, Yobe and Adamawa.
The approval was granted after over two-hour closed door briefing by security chiefs and hours of deliberations by lawmakers.
Although some opposition lawmakers argued that the extension of emergency rule is not necessary in those states, others say it is necessary to give a legal backing to domesticate international treaties in the fight against terror in Nigeria with the force of law.
Addressing a news conference after the proceedings, spokesman of the House, Representative Zakari Mohammed, said the constitution is clear on what needs to be done in times such as this.
The lawmakers may have given the extension required by the executive after what they say was useful insight given by the service chiefs on the security situation in the affected areas.
They also realize the need to follow up the efforts put in by the military to see to the end of terrorism in these states.

Ambode endorsement - APC leader warns Oba Akiolu of Effect

Oba Rilwan Akiolu’s endorsement of Akinwunmi Ambode as Governor Babatunde Fashola’s successor in Lagos State, has stirred a political storm, with a leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Alhaji Ganiyu Kolajo Oseni, urging him to keep off politics.
Oseni in an interview today told the Lagos monarch that he has no right to dabble into politics, being a public servant paid by the tax payers of the state.
“All Obas are public officers because the government is paying their salaries. They are precluded from dabbling into political matters which affect the tax payers”, he said.
Oseni had earlier warned against the imposition of any candidate in the race for the governorship position of Lagos State in 2015, reminding the party of the late Femi Agbalajobi/Dapo Sarumi saga which produced an opposition candidate, the late Sir Michael Otedola as the democratically elected governor of the state in 1991.
Oseni during an interview with P.M. NEWS at his Osborne Offshore, Ikoyi, Lagos residence, said, “it’s very hallucinating, agonising, painful and very shameful for anybody to have made the categorical pronouncement that we must have a Christian governor”.
He said in an interview on Wednesday, hours before Oba Rilwan Akiolu endorsed Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, an accountant at the public presentation of Ambode’s biography, ‘The Act of Selfless Service’.
“You people know me well that I do not hide my feelings on where I stand on issues. We the royal fathers have consulted widely within the state with the sons and daughters of Lagos and have come to the conclusion that the best person to take over from Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola, the iconic governor of Lagos State is Mr Akinwunmi Ambode.”
“We cannot have a man like this and allow somebody whose father is an Oba in Ewekoro Ogun State be the Governor of Lagos. Although Lagos State belongs to all Nigerians and the state will continue to offer opportunities to every Nigerian to actualize the Nigerian dream, Ambode remains the best man with the required pedigree and character to take Lagos to the next level,” he said.
Akiolu stated that he has the constitutional right to endorse anybody he adjudged as the right candidate for the position as it was done in other climes, saying this was what he has done by endorsing Ambode, as a man who stood on a pedestal of integrity and selfless service above all others, to lead the Lagos of today to higher heights tomorrow.

I will Not Watch Keshi Boys In The World Cup

Taye Taiwo said he will agree to be watching, the Nigerian international has voiced his frustrations over his exclusion from Nigeria's 30-man preliminary squad for the 2014 FIFA World Cup tournament in Brazil.

Since Stephen Keshi took over from Samson #Siasia as the national team handler,Taiwo has hardly been called up by the national team and the former Gabros and Lobi Stars player is at loss why it is so.

Taiwo further added that he understands he might not be in the coach's immediate plans, adding that he will not hang up his international boots just yet.

'"I'm really disappointed because I'm a Nigerian player. But I can't say I want to stop playing for the national team. Life is all about understanding. Maybe this period our coach doesn't want me. But that is not a problem for me. There are people who have played there before who are not there anymore. If they call me, I will come," The Bursaspor left back told KikckOffNigeria.com

"I don't really know. But even in Europe when they bring a new coach, there is a lot of changes sometimes. Sometimes the new coach doesn't have you in his plans. Everywhere, even in Europe, the coach has his own players that he wants. If the coach doesn't believe in you, no matter how you train, you can't do anything about it."

He however refuted claims that he might have had problems with #Keshi which explains why he has been constantly overlooked.

"Yes. I'm surprised. Because we never had any problems. And if there was any problem, at least they could have told me 'okay Taye, this is the problem'.

"No. I don't really know why. But as I always say to myself. Even my teammates ask me and I say I don't know. If you play very well in your club you deserve to be in the national team. If you don't play very well, you don't deserve to go.

"Maybe the coach doesn't want me in the team because he knows that if he calls me to come and play for Nigeria with his boys, I will never sit on the bench for his boys. So maybe that is why he decided he doesn't want me to come. Because if I come, I will surely play. So he doesn't want me to play because he knows that if he calls me, I will not come and sit on the bench for his players.

"It's not going to be possible. I don't have any problem with him but I was really really sad because I did not believe that I would not go to the World Cup with the way I'm playing for my club.

Jonathan Cancels Chibok Visit

The information came up this morning that the Nigeria president was going to visit Chibok, where the girls were abducted one month ago. We have gotten a new development.  President Goodluck Jonathan has cancelled his first visit to the village from which more than 200 schoolgirls were abducted by Islamist rebel group Boko Haram a month ago due to security fears, senior government sources said on Friday.

Jonathan will instead fly directly from the capital Abuja to Paris on Friday for a regional summit to discuss the Boko Haram insurgency and wider insecurity and will not now make a stop in the northeastern village of Chibok, said one of the sources.
